A CHARITY ambassador is urging people to think carefully about what they give as Christmas presents after seeing how unique gifts and training help people in drought-stricken Ethiopia.
Jan Lowe, 51, from Little Kingshill, made a trip to see how the Send a Cow charity teaches poor farmers to make the best use of their limited resources.
The civil engineer, spent a fortnight in the African country with six other supporters where the charity has been providing donkeys, tree saplings to produce orchards and apples, and teaching agricultural techniques.

YOUNGSTERS at Prestwood Junior School made Harvest donations with a difference in a bid to help some of the poorest people in the world.
Instead of collecting food, the pupils gave away their shoes which they had grown out of, to be sent to people in Africa.

IAIN Rennie Hospice at Home held a successful street collection in the village on Saturday, September 5.
The charity raised £294.07 and would like to thank all those who donated.

Every February young sufferers of the rare condition Xeroderma Pigmentosum or XP meet at a Christian retreat near Marlow for a restorative weekend break.
The weekend's are a combination of fun for the youngsters, who are aged from 18 months to 19, and an opportunity for parents to meet with health care professionals and to learn about the latest work being done to treat XP.
