AN ANGLER and historian who has spent most of his life writing about his passion was honoured for his work for the sport.
Frederick Buller, 83, of Little Missenden, was awarded an MBE in the Queen's New Year's Honours List.
Mr Buller, who began fishing from the tender age of five in ponds around Kingsbury, Middlesex, went on to pen 12 works about the subject including 'The Domesday Book of Giant Salmon' and 'The Domesday Book of Mammoth Pike' using many of his own photographs.

FIREFIGHTERS are renewing safety advice to householders who have open fires after seeing an increase in the amount of chimney fires.
Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service attended 24 chimney blazes in December and 10 in the first three days of January.
They were called to a total of 159 across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes last year. The figure has risen from 138 in 2008 and 97 in 2007. In the Chiltern distract 22 similar incidents were attended last year - up from 16 in 2008.

SCHOOLS across Bucks have been forced to close for the second day running as the big freeze continues to hit the county.
No chances are being taken with more snow and heavy ice making driving and walking conditions treacherous.

Salt supplies are so low in Bucks that the council will be able to grit only emergency routes tonight, the council said this afternoon.

WASTE collections have been suspended today (6/1) because of bad weather.
Chiltern District Council have not been able to make a decision on future collections as yet.

SCHOOLS have been forced to close in Bucks after heavy snowfall in the county overnight.
More snow is predicted throughout Wednesday by the Met Office as county council gritters take to the road.
