Police warning after valuables stolen from vehicles
FIVE vehicles left insecure in Prestwood were broken into in one night and had their contents stolen.
Mobile phones, a satellite navigation system and loose change were among the valuables taken in the thefts overnight between December 6 and December 7.
Thames Valley Police has issued a warning to encourage drivers to lock their cars when leaving them unattended.
Detective Sergeant Liz Tait, investigating the crimes, said: "Most thieves are opportunists and if they see anything of value in a vehicle they will be tempted to steal it. If your vehicle is left insecure, this is an open invitation for thieves to have a look through your vehicle to see if you have left anything of value worth stealing.
"If a vehicle looks empty, the chances are they will leave it alone, so don't leave anything on display, including any loose small amount of change. Ensure when you leave your vehicle, even if it is for a couple of minutes, your windows are closed and your vehicle is locked and secure."
Anyone who witnessed the thefts or saw anyone acting suspiciously around vehicles in Prestwood around the time of the offences, should Det Sgt Tait at Amersham Police Station on 08458 505 505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
