Police crackdown on unsafe drivers
A TOTAL of 27 drivers were fined for not wearing seatbelts in a three-hour crackdown in Great Missenden.
They were slapped with £60 fixed penalty notices for the offence in the police and council operation in Link Road on Friday.
Officers from the Thames Valley Safer Roads Partnership, roads policing department and neighbourhood policing team, joined forces with officers from Chiltern District Council, Buckinghamshire County Council and the Vehicle Operator Services Agency and stopped more than 30 drivers.
Five were also given £60 fines and three penalty points on their driving licences for using mobile phones while driving.
Two vehicles were seized for having no insurance and another two were banned from being used on the road by vehicle examiners because of serious mechanical defects.
PC Ian Leyland, Buckinghamshire road safety constable, said: "This check is an example of agencies working together for safer roads in Buckinghamshire. There are still a great number of drivers who take unnecessary risks in their driving habits and in the condition of their vehicles, which pose a threat to themselves and other road users."
