Pair prepare for 3,500 mile charity drive

23172772 Scumball-Rally.jpgBusinessman Nick Hayes is the driving force behind a charitable initiative called the Scum Run, a 3,500 mile drive around Europe.
Mr Hayes, 34, of Fairacres, Prestwood, will be joined en route by a friend and fellow entrepreneur, Dave Lewin, 34, of Ridgeway, Chesham.
Both men are mustard keen on the venture which kicks off on Thursday, April 16, and they are prepared to travel wherever the organisers send them.

Proceeds will go towards the Surrey-based Chase Children's Hospice, and already the duo have £2,000 pledged, which they hope to get past the £4,500 mark.
A condition of their entry into the competition is that they should buy a car, costing no more than £500, which they must use for their triumphal journey.
In this case the car, bought on e-bay, is a P registered VW Golf, a snip at just under the cash target, and something they hope can be whipped into shape before the kick off.
To boost funds still further both men, who cheerfully admit to doing absolutely no training before departure, are hosting a race night at the Chequers pub, High Street, Prestwood, on Thursday, April 2, at 7pm.
With typical generosity, villagers in Prestwood are standing by to support the event. "We think this whole thing is a bit of a giggle, but it has a serious side to it, as well, " said Mr Hayes.
Of the Scum Run format - the trip starts off from Le Havre - and then contestants meander around Europe, Mr Hayes said: "We could literally be sent anywhere, we will just have to see. It all takes place over four days and it could be a lot of fun."
This is the fourth year that the Scum Run has been held. Mr Hayes discovered its potentially sundry delights via the internet.
