A Little Missenden man is spending precious time running daily from Carnaby Street to leafy Bucks, a feat which takes him five and a half hours to achieve each time.
City headhunter Ed King is gearing up take part in the formidable Marathon des Sables event in Morocco at the end of March.
Mr King, 37, who works in Central London, is going to take part in the challenge along with business partner Guy Steel and the aim is to raise at least £20,000 for leukemia research.

The Prestwood Society will hold its annual meeting in March.
The evening will take place on Tuesday, March 17, at the village hall in Wycombe Road at 8pm.
Members and non members are welcome to attend.

English and literacy tutor Katharine Stephenson, 47, of Clarendon Road, has formed the Prestwood and Great Missenden branch of NO2ID (No to Identity Cards), a pressure group.

Every February young sufferers of the rare condition Xeroderma Pigmentosum or XP meet at a Christian retreat near Marlow for a restorative weekend break.
The weekend's are a combination of fun for the youngsters, who are aged from 18 months to 19, and an opportunity for parents to meet with health care professionals and to learn about the latest work being done to treat XP.

22953380  Plane.jpgGreat Missenden resident and flightpaths campaigner Marilyn Fletcher has reiterated concerns about the possibiity of bird strike affecting low flying aircraft destined for Luton.
Mrs Fletcher, of Chiltern Manor Park, Great Missenden, first took up the issue when the flightpaths debate was raging last Easter.
Since then nothing definitive has been resolved with the matter still under discussion with National Air Traffic Services (NATS).
However, the recent downing of a plane in New York at 3,200 feet - an eventuality caused by birdstrike - has reignited the relevance of the issue.

More than 240 youngsters at Prestwood Junior School, in Clare Road, sported caps, berets, stetsons, and trilbies in an attempt to raise cash on Friday (Feb 13) for International Childhood Cancer Day.
All 148 children at Prestwood Infant School in Moat Lane were similarly supportive and, like their compatriots at the junior school, proved similarly inventive when it came to securing a wide variety of caps.

The Roald Dahl Foundation, which raises money to help in the areas of literacy, neurology, and haematology, are looking for help from the general public.
In order to boost their existing programme of making small grants, they would like members of the general public to help by taking part in three sporting events: The British 10k London Run on July 12; Cycle London to Paris from July 17-21; and lastly, Cycle London to Amsterdam from September 18-21.

Parishioners in Great Missenden are putting the emphasis on the environment during what they have called a green month.
The activists, part of the environment group at the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul, kicked off a month of activity with a talk by Diocesan Advisor Ian James at the Oldham Hall on Sunday, February 8.
