Diamond celebrations for Michael and Primrose

PW-Diamond-Anniversary.jpgA chance meeting led to a lifetime of happiness for a South Heath couple who have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Michael and Primrose Depner first met at the home of Mrs Depner's late brother, Ted, and it was love at first sight.
The couple, aged 83 and 82 respectively, married at Amersham Registry Office in the Old Town during 1948 following a whirlwind courtship.

They celebrated their diamond anniversary at St Leonards Village Hall with a surprise party organised by their very large family, something Mrs Depner's described as a "wonderful occasion."
Mr Depner hailed, originally, from Romania. He first came to Britain as a prisoner of war and that is how he first got into agricultural work helping on a farm post war which is where he was when he first met Primrose at South Heath.
Later, Mr Depner worked as a nurseryman and then as a foreman at the Goya perfume factory in Old Amersham and latterly, in Chesham, with Flying Services, the aircraft seat manufacturer, from where he retired after 25 years outstanding service as a troubleshooter.
Workwise Mrs Depner was retained by Sainsburys in Chesham after having run a busy household featuring five children.
The couple, who remain steadfastly devoted to one another, have 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, the youngest of whom is one month old.
"We have a wonderful life, and we have been and still are, a great team, we help each other, and love one another very much, " said Mrs Depner.
Gardening was Mr Depner's favourite hobby and the lady of the house was very keen on knitting. "A successful marriage is all about give and take, making the bet of things, and working as a team, and another bit of advice I would pass on to younger couples is that it is wise, always, to live within your means, because if you do not it can be difficult."

We'd like to hear from you.
