Prestwood Gardening Society will be holding an illustrated talk by Alan Copeland Dentitled Sussex Curiosities.
It will be at the village hall in Wycombe Road on Thursday, January 8 at 8pm.

Arson is the suspected cause of a fire in Salmon Lane on December 29. A garage and lean-to were set on fire at about 12.58am. Firefghters from Great Missenden and High Wycombe attended the blaze.

Eurodisney trip for children

Trustees of the Prestwood-based Thomas Ball Children's Cancer Fund organised another pre-Christmas trip to Eurodisney.
Nine families journeyed to Paris on Eurostar from St Pancras and the children, all of whom are sufering from life-threatening illnesses, had a wonderful time at the resort.

PW-Diamond-Anniversary.jpgA chance meeting led to a lifetime of happiness for a South Heath couple who have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Michael and Primrose Depner first met at the home of Mrs Depner's late brother, Ted, and it was love at first sight.
The couple, aged 83 and 82 respectively, married at Amersham Registry Office in the Old Town during 1948 following a whirlwind courtship.

Two men and a women got into a house in Chipsted by pretending to be police officers.
At 7.30pm on Saturday, December 13 they got into the house and stole money and a check book.
The incident is being linked to others that happened across the county, including in Great Missenden, Amersham and Holmer Green.

GT-Mis-Memory.jpgSchoolchildren in Great Missenden are facing up to an educational challenge after The Gateway School adopted a pioneering educational initiative.
The Gateway, an independent school, has integrated a computer-based memory improvement programme into its curriculum.

Gt-Mis-Memorial-Hall.jpgPlans are afoot to create a new look state-of-the-art Memorial Hall in Great Missenden.
The project, which will kick off in earnest in the New Year, is being driven by the parish council which is setting money aside for the grand scheme.
The idea is being championed, in particular, by parish council chairman Mike Lee who has long coveted the opportunity to breathe fresh life into the Memorial Hall.

Prestwood scouts excel

Scouts from the Chilterns excelled during atrocious conditions at Pitstone - all part of the annual exertion known as The Grimsdyke Hikes.
Packs from Seer Green and Prestwood finished top of the pile but there were 24 other teams from Amersham and Chalfont who completed their assignments.

Robert Powell, the man who played Jesus of Nazareth in an acclaimed television series, will be a guest at this year's Roald Dahl Foundation Christmas concert.
The concert will take place on Saturday, December 20, at the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul, commancing at 7.30pm.
Other guests will include Andrew Wincott, from The Archers, and actress Rowena Cooper.
There were be carols and musical accompaniments.
Proceeds go to the Roald Dahl Foundation, which raises money for neurology, haematology, and literacy.
Tickets are £20 for adults and £14 for children.

Second Prestwood Christmas event

Prestwood-2.jpgMore than 500 people attended Saturday's second annual Prestwood late night celebration of Christmas event.
The evening began with a 200-strong procession from Prestwood Infant School in Moat Lane to the shopping centre in Chequers Parade.
