Joy for Lee cricketers as their future is secured

Lee-Cricket-Club.jpgA cricket club has won planning permission to build a new £50,000 plus pavilion at its Lee Manor Park Ground at The Lee.
The Lee Cricket Club, which is chaired by barrister Jon Swain, wants to forge on and build the new structure as soon as possible.

Management hopes the pavilion, to feature a function room, bar and changing areas, will be in place by the time the first ball of the new season is bowled in April.
The Lee plays its competitive cricket in the Kookaburra Mid Bucks League and the Lee Manor Park set up also boasts a thriving junior section.
The contract for the pavilion is still out to tender, according to secretary Peter Neal, who said the club had the budget available to complete the project.
Officials at Chiltern District Council have granted planning permission with the added stipulation that the club should do all it can to optimise disabled access to the pavilion.
Mr Neal said the plan was basically to build the new pavilion in the same place as the previous facility and to use an adjacent shed as part of the new structure.
"We will be installing a pitched roof ultimately because it will be easier to maintain, " he said. "We will not really be increasing our existing fooprint."
